What Hypnosis is NOT

Before we dive into how Hypnosis can truly help you, it’s important to clear up some common misconceptions and myths that often surround this practice. Many of the ideas we have about Hypnosis stem from movies, stage shows, or sensationalized portrayals, leading to confusion and even fear.

One of the most widespread myths is that Hypnosis involves losing control over your actions or willpower, like being in a trance where you might be coerced into doing things you wouldn't normally do—like stealing, revealing secrets, or even engaging in dangerous behaviors. This idea comes from the dramatic and exaggerated depictions in entertainment, and I want to reassure you right now: this is absolutely not what Therapeutic Hypnosis or Hypnosis Coaching is.

Some people also believe Hypnosis is like being in a deep sleep or completely unconscious. This is another misconception. During Hypnosis, you are fully awake, aware, and in control. You are never "out of it" or "unconscious." Hypnosis is simply a deeply relaxed yet highly aware state that allows your mind to become more receptive to positive change.

Given these misunderstandings, it’s completely normal to feel a little hesitant or unsure about trying Hypnosis. I want to assure you that when practiced in a safe, supportive, and professional setting, Hypnosis is a gentle and empowering tool. It’s designed to help you tap into your inner resources, discover your strengths, and make lasting changes with full awareness and agency.

In the next section, I’ll share more about what Hypnosis truly is and how it can offer you the healing and growth you’re seeking.
